As an option for electrical utilities, Cypress can also provide significant peak reduction on a comprehensive turnkey basis. We can design, and if required implement, turnkey solutions that allow utilities to achieve their desired peak load goals on schedule and preserve budgets. Working in conjunction with traditional program administration roles, Cypress can take over all aspects of a project including, financial, marketing, owning, operating, and maintaining load control solutions.
Cypress NegaWatts can deliver significant coincident peak capacity reduction in the form of sheddable loads within the service territory. This load reduction is accomplished without tying up scarce capital or internal resources and without a multi-year implementation that can slow objectives. NegaWatts provide a resource that can:
- Reduce Coincident Peak
- Improve reserve margins
- Avoid spot market purchase risk during peak times
- Create spinning reserves.
Program Design-Only services
Cypress provides expert customer Program Design for utilities who have all the
needed internal program management resources. Our Program Design services
include a menu of options ranging from initial market scans and database searches, total resource cost modeling, to complex MW and MWH savings models based on engineering analysis and projection tools. Cypress also integrates with in-house economic, resource planning, and engineering staff to project the economic impact, total resource cost and cost avoidance of various consumer programs. To support utilities in the successful execution of their designs, our Program Design includes market implementation considerations and public policy issues.
Customer Procurement Assistance
Our mission is to assist our clients in their efficiency related procurement efforts and to find ways to implement energy conservation and upgrades of physical environments without new capital dollars. Our specific and relevant experience in the successful procurement, implementation and ongoing monitoring and verification of energy savings solutions for the private and public sector clients gives us the solid expertise in navigating the complex waters of energy savings, performance contracting, capital procurement, energy retrofits, financing, and local legislation. Along with other national clients, Cypress provides this service for Nevada-based public customers through our Nevada ERC Board subsidiary (www.nevadaerc.com).
